Message from Mr Walker - 15 September 2017

Hello everyone
Welcome to another new year at Blidworth Oaks and welcome to our first newsletter of the year. We send out a newsletter on a weekly basis to let you know what has been happening in school that week and what is coming up in the following weeks. We then send a bumper newsletter out at the end of each half term. We send these home in paper form with your child, but they are also available on our website for other family members to view.

I am delighted to be able to now inform you that Blidworth Oaks was declared a GOOD school by Ofsted when they visited just before the summer break. We were very happy with our report and I have been told it will be available to view on the Ofsted website from Tuesday. Thank you for your continued support for our school. Our next target is to be declared an outstanding school so watch this space!
Big Breakfast

Thank you to those who attended the Big Family Breakfast this morning. It was a happy occasion as usual and great to see everyone together. Unfortunately, we were unable to accommodate all the requests for breakfast tickets. Therefore, those who missed out will be first on the list for the next breakfast in January should they wish to attend.
Football – Girl’s Team

Well done to the Girl’s football team who took part in a tournament this week, winning three of their games and drawing another. I can see you are going to be a force to be reckoned with this year in the girls’ football league!
East Midlands in Bloom

Niamh and Camaron from Year 6 attended the East Midlands in Bloom awards ceremony in Boston, Lincolnshire, this week along with myself and the school’s Chair of Governors, Mrs Penney. I am delighted to announce that were the overall winners of the school’s category this year: Best School Garden in the East Midlands 2017! What a fantastic achievement for the hard work of Phil, the children, volunteers and staff (myself excluded).

TLCs (Termly Learning Celebrations… or Parent Evenings) take place next week to give you the chance to meet your child’s new teacher personally. They will take place in the Sports Hall. If you haven’t yet booked a meeting with your child’s teacher you can do so with them directly or contact the school office to request a time. We encourage children to attend the TLC with you; however, if you would rather speak to the class teacher alone, this is fine also. I will look forward to seeing you there.
Have a great weekend
Mr Walker
